Steven seemed to enjoy the Camaro when he had a chance to get behind the wheel at SXSW. Wonder if took a spin in the Corvette as well?

Our goal for the walking trip was to provide stops that would give visitors a view of Austin that they wouldn't normally see during SXSW. Sure, two of the stops were in or near the convention center — the Chevy Volt Recharge Lounge and the O. Henry Museum. We saw a total of almost 450 people check in at the lounge and 112 at the O. Henry Museum right around the corner. The number bumped up again to 425 people at Mellow Johnny's — the bike shop owned by Lance Armstrong where the Tweet House (co-sponsored by Chevy) took place — along with a handful of SXSW interactive panels.

The two final spots were truly out of the way — but worth the walk/drive. They included the Night Wings sculpture on Congress and Riverside (162 people) and Stevie Ray Vaughn Statue on Auditorium Shores (106 people).

Those that visited all five spots and checked in with Gowalla were instructed to pick up their prize — a Chevrolet Corvette or Camaro Hot Wheels car — at the Chevy Volt Recharge Lounge. Over 40 people actually completed the trip and most of them did this during the interactive conference.

Chevy had fun experimenting with geolocation with Gowalla. We loved earning pins, checking in at SXSW panels and concerts, and seeing what our friends were up to. Did you use Gowalla or Foursquare during SXSW?

Gowalla co-Founder Josh Williams describes one of the four elements of Chevy’s SXSW geo-location program.  When airline passengers arrived in Austin and checked in on Gowalla, they were greeted with a welcome message from Chevrolet.  And, some lucky winners, like Jackie Cuyvers arriving from Chicago, got an additional offer for a free ride downtown courtesy of Chevy.

We found staying fed a challenge as we were constantly on the move and looking for good food within walking distance of downtown. Some of our favorite spots included a bbq tent setup in the alley-way of 5th Street between Congress and Brazos. These folks drove to SXSW all the way from Kansas City and their cue was worth a stop! For dessert we had Jude's Rum Cake and they were amazingly rummy and fresh. Wish they were sold in Austin on a regular basis!

Other highlights included lunch at Royal Blue Grocery at 3rd and Nueces where we snacked on pizza from East Side Pies, house-made summer rolls, brownies from Mrs. Butters, and beer and wine. Nearby, teo gelato had set up a stand just for SXSW and that was a treat since it's our favorite in the city.

This was the year of the food truck and we visited Frietkot, The Short Bus, and Chilantro BBQ among others. What was your favorite food find at SXSW this year?

SXSW 2010 is now over. And the suitcases full of dirty closes are being unpacked.

As your clothes lay on the floor unattended (well–at least mine are unattended), let’s take a moment to reflect on the major key fashion trends of this year in hopes that next year we will be fitting into the latest trends.

For the Men
There were a few trends we saw on the streets of Austin:

1. The Tighter the Pants, the Trendier the Man. The Skinny Jean was in full force for men of all ages at SXSW with the most svelte men rocking the trend. Some men choose a more roomier version of the skin tight option, but most silhouettes were straight.
2. Cut-off Jeans or Shorts with Socks. During the peak of SXSW’s sweltering heat, several hip men were found cutting off their jeans and pulling on their sneakers or boots for a “I don’t care I ruined my favorite skinny jeans” look. Some even took a moment to go shirtless. While this probably allowed for a breeze, we’re not sure if dress shoes and shorts works outside of SXSW.
3. The White Tee. Easy, comfortable, cheap. The White Tee Shirt was in full force as men paired them with their..gasp..skinny jeans. Some even went for matching red shoes (see red shoe twins).

For the Women
As for women, there were two key trends:

1. Tight Pants. The tight pants could be swapped for leggings under a tight mini or sheer black tights under dark micro shorts. Some women opted out of jeans/leggings for just a roomy dress. Regardless of type of fabric, the key was skin tight pants. As for any trend including the word “skin tight,” it worked for some, but not so much for others.
2. Boots and Lace-ups. It was as if Nancy Sinatra’s infamous song was in the minds of all SXSW women who left their ballet flats at home and tucked their tight pants into their boots. The Lace-Up was another version of the bootie, harkening back to a menswear dress shoe rather than a ballet flat. Thankfully, this trend was much more…forgiving..and didn’t leave us questioning their current reasoning.
